SHALOM PC NICARAGUA                                                                         

Dear Friends In Christ

Martina & I send you greetings In the Name of Jesús Christ and thank God for another year of serving in this part of His kingdom called Nicaragua.

The year 2006 was another blessed year of seeing God provide the spiritual and educational direction which touched the lives of many Nicaraguan people in Esteli.

Spiritual & Educational growth are the two most needed ingredients of change in this beautiful country often referred to as the second poorest country in the western hemisphere.

We do acknowledge and thank the good people of John Knox PC,North Olmsted Ohio and Covenant PC,Fort Myers Florida & their CHANGE MY WORLD scholarships.

With their continuing financial support again in 2006 we did administer 38 educational scholarships to Shalom PC members in the elementary,high school and university levels.  

Spiritual growth has been the primary focus of Shalom PC Nicaragua ministries including Shalom Children´s Worship & Bible Studies under the leadership of Elizabeth Avilez,Martina Wilson,Maria Mercedes Zeledon,Leonor Zeledon.

The Shalom Youth Club remains focused on spiritual growth under the capable leadership of Ariel & Arlenne Mendoza and Juan Carlos Gutierrez.

Each week in the Esteli Prison,Juan Iglesias continues to touch the lives of prisoners searching for the Biblical meaning for their lives.

Please pray that God will in 2007 provide the much needed resources to continue this important ministry.

In August 2006 we welcomed into our church, Pastor Jose Chay,an ordained bilingual pastor from our presbytery in Merida Yucatan Mexico.Pastor Chay is focusing on teaching the Reformed Doctrine to our members before organizing them into elders & deacons in 2007.Each week Juan Carlos Guttierez is receiving classes from Pastor Chay in preparation for ordination to be a Presbyterian Pastor in 2007.

Mission Teams from the USA once again came to Esteli in 2006 to be in ministry with us, share their love of Jesus Christ and help in construction projects.

Returning once again were Mission Teams from Forest Hills PC Tampa Florida,FPC Gainesville Florida,Covenant PC Fort Myers Florida, John Knox PC North Olmsted Ohio with Avon Lake PC Avon Lake Ohio.

We also welcomed for the first time the Mission Team from FPC Shelbyville Tenn.

Thank you all for coming to help the people of Nicaragua.

In 2006 Martina Wilson provided two seminars for the women of SHALOM PC .

The spiritual growth focus was based on the themes : BEAUTIFUL WOMEN INSIDE & OUTSIDE and THE LIES THAT WOMEN BELIEVE AND THE TRUTH THAT WILL SET THEM FREE. 

UPDATE ON SHALOM CHURCH SAN JUAN DEL SUR

In April 2006,we were invited to teach Bible Study to residents of SJDS.

Once a week we teach a Bible Study in English to local unchurched residents.

We also reached out to the Spanish speaking unchurched residents as well.

Now every Sunday morning at 9am we meet in the lending library  located in front of the park.On Dec.3 there were 12 participants and it was wonderful to see the great joy of Christian fellowship in their smiles during the coffee & sharing time after BS.

Once a month we plan to worship together somewhere in SJDS beginning Dec.24,2006.

Please be in prayer with us that God will lead us to that place of worship.

ONGOING 2007 PRAYER REQUESTS : PLEASE PRAY FOR:

1. Continued spiritual growth in SHALOM PC ministries in Esteli Nicaragua.
2. Church plant in San Juan Del Sur that God will lead the people back to Him.
3. Peaceful transition in the Nicaraguan government on Jan.10,2007 when Daniel Ortega is sworn in as the new president for the next five years.
4. Emerson´s health & our safe travels.
5. Financial Support for our personal needs,including expenses in SJDS.
